It’s happened to everyone: you walk down a beach enjoying the breeze from the sea, and a huge wave approaches too close to shore and hits you, soaking your shoes and socks. You instantly look around and either a) be completely embarrassed, and furious about having to deal with a wet pair of socks now, or b) have a good laugh at yourself, take your pair of shoes off and resume enjoying your stroll.
The world seems to be divided between two types of people — those who find it easy to laugh at themselves, and those who take themselves a little too seriously. And for those with the ability to have a good laugh, can then enjoy the health benefits that come alongside.
Ways happiness is linked to health
1.      It is good for your heart
According to a 2009 study by University of Maryland Medical Center, people with heart disease were 40% less likely to laugh in a variety of situations compared to normal people at the same age. Being humorous and sharing a good laugh not only brings you joy to your heart, but also better health.
2.      Natural Pain Relief
There are many studies related to happiness being a way of pain relief. Study showed that during Laughter, endorphins which are pain relieving chemicals are released. Also, another study from 2005 suggests that being cheerful and positive mitigates the pain of diseases.
3.      Strengthen immune system
A Study in 2003 with 350 adults volunteering to be exposed to common cold discovered that the happier you are the less likely it is to catch a cold. It shows that the immune system of a person goes up and down depending on how happy you are feeling.
